Creating Music

They say music is a universal language and being able to contribute to this language by making your own can a satisfying experience. The beauty of the process is that no matter what kind of music you are into, creating it is all the same, and it is simply a matter to catering these steps to the message you want to send. Take a look at these tips on creating your own music.

Find an inspiration

Whether you are creating music for a new hip hop track, love ballad or rock song you want to find something that inspires you to make it. Think about things that you are passionate about and most interested in; it could be anything from a recent event in the news to that girl or boy who got away. Regardless of the topic, make sure it is something that you and your audience can relate to; you want to be able to connect to your audience through your music so by finding something that drives you and expressing it in your song will evoke similar emotions from those who listen.

Get a beat

There are places where you can buy your beat which is great. However, if you are looking to be creative and make the music your own, try and create an original beat. There are many software products and machines that you can purchase that will allow for making one.  The beat is going to be the foundation of your music. It is sometimes what will make or break the song, so you want to find a beat that allows whoever is listening to invest further in the music. Think about the topic you came up with and try to find sounds or rhythms that relate to it.

Write your lyrics

Once you have a topic and a solid beat to suit, you want to get some lyrics. Unless you are trying to make instrumentals, your lyrics are another major component of your music. You can even start with the hook or chorus in case it is tough coming up with full verses in the beginning. This will be another way to connect with your audience. You want to be able to find the right words that speak to anyone listening. The words you write will give you the perfect opportunity to be relatable and put that inspiration on paper. Maybe include interesting metaphors that allow consumers to think differently. You want to find a way to send a clear message and get your audience to take heed in what you’re saying.

Time to record

So you’ve come up with a great topic, you’ve made a solid beat, and you have written powerful lyrics to send that message across. Now it is time to put it all together and record what you have. If you don’t have a recording studio to go to there are a few things you are going to need such as a computer where you will record and edit the song, some music software for arrangement, headphones, a microphone, and an audio interface that will connect the microphone to the computer. After you have finished recording, you will want to edit the vocals. You can mix the audio or add some effects so that you can make your music pop and stand out.
