While Australia can be a pricier vacation, it’s ultimately worth the money. It’s a unique country that has remained fairly separate from the influence of the rest of the world for a long time, thanks to its location. When you visit this country, you’ll see incredible wildlife that’s impossible to find anywhere else, meet interesting people, and visit vibrant cities and natural sites. Besides taking a traditional vacation, you can also study abroad in the country and lower the cost of your trip while getting to spend more time in the country and learn while you’re there.

The Great Barrier Reef

One of the biggest reasons people make the effort to visit Australia is so they can make a visit to the Great Barrier Reef. You can have the once in a lifetime chance to dive around this reef and see one of the most stunning and complex ocean ecosystems in the world. Be careful you do not disturb the environment; the Reef is rapidly shrinking and it’s important to preserve it for as long as possible.

Uluru

Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, is one of the best known sites in Australia. It’s a huge sandstone rock that is miles and miles away from the nearest town. If you pay a visit to Uluru-Kata National Park, you’ll be able to visit the rock. A great time to go is around sunrise or sunset so you can see the light reflect off of Uluru.

Beaches

Since Australia is an island, there is an endless amount of beaches you can visit. Most of the beaches feature white sand and clear, blue water that’s pleasant for swimming. It is important to keep an eye on any warning signs posted around; some beaches have a lot of sharks or are just generally unsafe for swimmers. If you head to the West Coast, you can likely find a lot of beaches with very few tourists.

Food & wine

Like nearly any country, you’ll find fantastic local food in Australia, particularly barbecue. The country is also known for its incredible vineyards, where you can find great wines. Whether you want to visit them for the wine or the view, you won’t be disappointed.

Wildlife

You’ve probably heard about the abundance of wildlife found in Australia; many of which can be deadly if you’re bitten or stung by them. However, do not let that daunt you because you simply need to be aware of your surroundings and avoid interacting with any strange animals in order to stay safe. There are plenty of awesome animals you can interact with safely, such as kangaroos or koalas at specific zoos and parks.

Sydney

One of the largest cities in Australia, Sydney is great to visit when you’re on the east coast of Australia. Take time to visit the Sydney Opera House and get some pictures of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. There are even awesome beaches to visit on the edge of the city.

Perth

Another wonderful city to visit in Australia, Perth is located on the west side of the country. You can visit Kings Park or the Botanic Gardens to get a stunning view of the city. There are also beaches to visit at this city as well. The art district is also worth a visit while you’re in Perth.
